Masego Morulane is a multidisciplinary creative with a strong foundation in graphic design and photography. In 2015, she co-founded the Manechicks blog and launched the #SpotTheMane street photography project, a visual celebration of Black hair and identity.

Her work has since been featured in groundbreaking campaign with Girlgaze, Dove, and Getty Images, where she contributed to efforts aimed at challenging conventional beauty standards.

As the South African Ambassador for Project #ShowUs, Masego represented the country on the international stage, sharing a platform with prominent voices, including Dr. Rebecca Swift, Amanda de Cadenet, Sophie Galvani, and June Sarpong at the project’s London launch. Her photography has been featured in major projects, including Afro-Punk for Cosmopolitan Magazine (2019) and the TRESemmé Hair Advisory Board (2021).

In addition to her photography, Masego is also an accomplished self-taught illustrator, having contributed to beloved children’s books like Mpumi’s Magic Beads, Grow to Be Great: Awesome African Achievers, O Somile, Kolobe Ya Ditshila, What Does Mpumi Wear?, What Does Mpumi Eat?, and Mpumi’s Feast of Love.

Her design work has earned critical acclaim, including a Gold Pendoring Advertising Award in 2020 and finalist placements in both the 2022 and 2023 Pendoring Awards for publication design. Masego remains passionate about storytelling, representation, and using her craft to make a meaningful impact.
